Bryson's First Soccer Game

bryson loooooves soccer. he loves most sports, but currently soccer is, like, the best. he got home from his first practice and had like super energy - it was nuts. i thought he had mixed up red bull with his gatorade or something...

he told me "mom, my coach said its okay to swipe the ball from someone. normally you shouldn't swipe things, like in dora - swiper dont swipe me - but its okay in soccer. so thats what i did mom. i swiped the ball mom. if someone had the ball i would just swipe it"

i hope he swiped it from someone on the opposite team.

he is on the team with his best friend (see him and asher in the last picture) and i think that is pretty neat. they also look pretty cute in their little uniforms. they also run a lot. for an hour they run. in the sun. so bryson was a little ruined afterward. so the lesson for me is to have rest time after the games. enforced rest time. indeed. and the sugary snacks can be a reward for AFTER rest time. because i believe that also added to the drama.

i feel like i am navigating in this sports world like a little alien. its all very new to me. it seems like most parents care very deeply and loudly about the games...and they just don't have that effect on me quite yet. i mean, i cheer for him and all, but the yelling and up off the seat going nuts isn't quite where i am at...maybe in a year or two after my feet get wet? i just dont know any rules to any sports either - i am finding out. i never played anything except for in P.E. and when i got to High School i just danced from then on and did nothing else. i am lucky bryan knows his way around and thinks to correct them on how to hold the bat, how to kick the ball, etc. and i believe it will come eventually...so i am not too hard on myself. and of course, i always have a little hope that one of them will want to dance...although its not looking that way so far...but still...hope...it costs nothing to do that!

our angels date

bryson didnt know where we were going...i made him wear a red shirt, but the tie was his idea. he was very sure he needed a tie on our date...which is funny because he sees bryan and i go on dates all the time and bryan NEVER wears ties...whatever...its cute and he is funny..

we thought he would be so excited since he finished his first year playing t-ball and all...and we even got great seats (thanks ruthie) but he didnt really follow too well...but he DID enjoy the cotton candy and cracker jacks and hot dog and licorice...it was a date after all :)

we joined up with ruthie and her friend - it was so fun to spend some time with our little man two on one..reminded us a little of life before the other 2 b's...and how life may be a little easier when those little b's are a little bigger ;)

we didnt last the whole game...it was angels vs. dodgers and there were probably more dodger fans there than angels and they were a little intimidating...not gunna lie...they were up by 5 when we left and bryson was more than ready for bed...he fell asleep on the way home...even with all that sugar in his little system!

mommy had some too!

Bryson's Tball Game vs. Threshers

this game was special because they had the game on the big field under the lights (but it was still light outside...bur still) and an announcer. so cute. bryson did really well and since he was last at bat he got to run around all the bases (homerun-ish!) so the coach gave him a ball that he wrote on "Star Player of the Game". oh my goodness...bryson was so excited. glowing...and he kept telling us how many homeruns he got!

these are some of my favorite pics that bryan took. the first and last ones are especially near and dear. i love that look in the first picture that bodie is giving bryson. it was super cute actually...i was holding bobby and trying to contain bodie on the bleachers and bodie ran off and next thing i knew he was in the dugout with bryson and bryson was so happy that he was there - he put his arm around him and i let him stay for the rest of the game.

and that last picture - that is bryson's true smile...hard to capture since he has such an awkward smile for the camera smile...but i love his look - it was right after coach gave him the ball...he is so proud...i have a feeling we will be at these fields for a while...bryson LOVES T-Ball...i do too!

Bryson's First T-Ball Game

i feel like this is quite monumental...i mean...i know that i am one to exaggerate and all...but there has been this strange feeling following me ever since little league had their opening day ceremonies. this feeling that these fields will be quite familiar to us for the next 12 years or so...this feeling that i am going to need to learn a lot more about correct throwing technique and how to pitch and play catch with my boys...this feeling that our weekends will no longer be lounging around and doing whatever we want...a feeling of a start of something that will be our new normal.

this was his first t-ball game. so cute. but the pageant mom in me came out and i was yelling for him to run then i realized they dont even keep score...i felt like i was watching soccer for a minute...just kidding...in soccer they score sometimes...speaking of which, bryson just told us he wants to play soccer next, which you apparently have to sign up now for the fall league...and practice is 2x week and games on saturdays...this feeling i had is suddenly a reality!

i constantly feel so out of place at these little events...i have no sports experience. at all. i dont even remember going to my brothers' games. i remember my dad was in a softball league, but i only remember that because i got to play on the playground with my friends and eat candy from the snack shack. no interest...none...at all..

but this is fun! i am seriously so excited to be a "sports mom" i think whatever he chooses i will be there on the sidelines. bryan and i were having a conversation last night about their abilities and passions and where we come in as parents and where we just don't. for now he wants to play every single sport out there...which is great, but goodness these sports are big time-sucks...plus bodie will be involved in sports coming up most likely and then bobby too...so limits will of course be necessary. like one sport at a time!

bryson did so well - he paid good attention - hit the ball well - almost touched all the bases...its hard to watch all 3 innings of t-ball...the kids are so all over the place, but our coach is super great with the kids and their practices are serious -

so this feeling i had at opening ceremonies is still taking its time sinking in...a lifetime of sports ahead of me. bryan is over the moon about it, of course, and i am getting there too...especially since i spent a good part of last weekend doing some sports crafting - sewing patches on their uniforms, embroidering his name (well...B.Barnes) on his bat bag, making him a couple jersies for practice...i may not know any of the rules of these sports, but at least he will look cute!
